August 2026

We had a very successful Emergency Preparedness Meeting at the East New Market Fire Hall in August. The Town and Dorchester County joined forces to review East New Market’s Emergency Water Plan and the County’s emergency plans. This informative meeting will now become an annual event as we continue working together to keep our residents prepared and informed.

On September 19, the Events Committee will hold its Second Annual Community Yard Sale and Movie Night at the historic East New Market Train Station. Please visit www.townofeastnewmarket.com and select “Events” for additional information.

Our Farmers Market continues to be well attended each Sunday. We are also pleased to welcome Choptank Seafood as our newest vendor. Thank you to everyone who supports our vendors and helps make the market successful.

I apologize for the delay in sending the Town’s water and sewer bills. We have transitioned to QuickBooks Online and are in the final stages of completing the setup. After you receive your July bill, we will make every effort to send the August bill by the middle of September. Following that, we expect to return to our regular schedule of mailing bills early each month. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition.

The Town has completed the installation of American flags along Main Street, Railroad Avenue, and Academy Street. The flags were generously donated by Johnny’s Tavern. We sincerely thank Johnny’s Tavern for this patriotic contribution to our community. The flags are a wonderful addition to our town, and we hope everyone enjoys seeing them proudly displayed.

As we approach fall and the beginning of another school year, please be mindful of school buses and children traveling through town. Speeding continues to be a serious safety concern. Please slow down, remain alert, and help us protect our children, residents, and visitors.

Thank you for your continued support of the Town of East New Market.
