Dear Neighbors,
During October, the Town of East New Market will be contacting residents with past-due water and sewer balances. We have a substantial amount outstanding, and some accounts are more than a year past due. Collecting these balances helps the town meet its obligations, including the cost of sewage treatment. The town does not control the operating costs of the sewage treatment plant.
Our town charter states that water and sewer charges are due within 30 days. If your account is past due, you will receive a certified letter showing the amount owed. Please contact Town Hall within 30 days of receiving the letter. If we do not hear from you within that time, your service will be terminated.
We understand that some residents may need time to catch up. Payment plans of up to 12 months are available. To set one up, please come to Town Hall after receiving your letter.
The letters will be mailed throughout October. I encourage everyone who receives one to contact us promptly so we can work together to resolve the balance.
Mayor Gary Lucks
Town of East New Market
