Mayor’s Newsletter

August 2026

Dear Residents,

The Mayor and Council extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Henry Dockins. Henry was a pillar of our community and will be greatly missed. Everyone knew Henry, and everyone knew how much he loved East New Market. His many years of friendship and service to our residents will always be remembered.

Our celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday was filled with great patriotism and community spirit. Despite the extreme heat, our citizens came together at Friendship Park to celebrate this historic occasion. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.

The Twin Cities Commission will elect a chairperson this month. The Commission is actively performing its duties in accordance with its charter. The new water and sewer rate increase will be reflected in the billing for July service.

We will soon complete the installation of the remaining American flags along Main Street. These flags are a wonderful addition to our town and represent the pride we share in our community and our country.

Please visit our website at www.townofeastnewmarket.com for current information about town events, meeting agendas, approved minutes, and other important announcements.

As we move toward fall, the Events Committee is planning a community yard sale. This event appears to be very popular, and we look forward to another strong turnout. Please visit the Town’s Facebook Events page or website for additional information about reserving booth space.

The Historic District Commission continues working on several projects involving the preservation and revitalization of our historic community. Planning and Zoning will also begin the important process of updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, which will help guide East New Market’s future growth and development.

Please enjoy the balance of your summer, and thank you for making East New Market such a special place to call home.

Sincerely,

Gary R. Lucks
Mayor
Town of East New Market
