Call to Order
The meeting of the Town Council of the Town of East New Market was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Gary Lucks.
Attendance
Mayor Gary Lucks, Councilman Blake Holiday, Councilman Mike Sisson, Councilman Sam Yockey, Councilwoman Valencia Stagg, and Michelle Jackson, Secretary/Treasurer.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The February Town Council Meeting Minutes were presented for review. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as presented. Vote: Approved unanimously by the Mayor and all four Council members.
Building Permits
No new building permit applications were received for review.
Infrastructure and Utility Updates
Friendship Park Electrical Service: The electrical service application for Friendship Park has been submitted to Delmarva Power.
Smoke Testing: Smoke testing of the sewer system still needs to be scheduled.
Ordinances
Cross Contamination Ordinance: Approved unanimously by the Mayor and all four Council members.
Historic District Commission Ordinance: Approved unanimously by the Mayor and all four Council members.
Website Update
Mayor Lucks is sending information to the website developer to assist with development of the new Town website. Professional photography of the town has been completed and forwardedto the developer.
Code Enforcement
The Town Clerk has contacted MDIA regarding an update on code enforcement activities.
Twin Cities Commission Mediation
A mediation meeting was conducted involving the Town of Secretary and the Town of East New Market regarding the Twin Cities Commission. The meeting was very positive with a commitment from both towns to improve communication and follow the charter moving forward.
Project and Grant Updates
Amphitheater Project: Mayor Lucks is working with the Land Grant Easement Group to obtain approval for the proposed amphitheater project.
Street Lighting and Paving Grant: A grant has been submitted for improvements in The Crossings and Trinity Court communities.
Wildflower Garden Grant: A grant has been submitted for a wildflower garden in the rear of Friendship Park to attract bees and butterflies and provide environmental education opportunities for youth.
Commissioner Comments
Council members thanked the Events Committee for their hard work. Discussion was also held regarding the development of a Veterans Memorial to be located in the front area of Friendship Park.
